Why We Started

Achievement Essentials was born from a simple yet vital need: improving the trajectory for student achievement in math. 
 
After decades of leading schools, teaching, and coaching, our team recognized a clear need to support teachers in making better instructional decisions in real-time with their students. As educators themselves, they understand that deep knowledge of the math content is critical for educators to intentionally use representations and strategies in order to meet the needs of their students by operationalizing their unit plans, aligning them with standards, learning target progressions, and common formative assessments for their students.
 
Deeply understanding the math content empowers educators to intentionally use tools, and gives them the understanding necessary to foster deep mathematical comprehension and cultivate confident, capable young mathematicians.

What We Are About

Achievement Essentials aims to improve math instruction and student outcomes by clarifying the shared responsibility of educators across a system. The K-5 Math Project will provide the strategies that enables students to achieve at their current grade level and prepares them for the next.  This continuity is the necessary component that makes a guaranteed and viable curriculum a reality.
